Apple Unveils iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus with A18 SoC Built for Apple Intelligence

Apple has introduced the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus smartphones at its Glowtime event in the US. Take a look at the details.

iPhone 16 Series: All You Need to Know

The iPhone 16 is priced at USD 799, USD 899, and USD 1,099 for the 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants. In contrast, the iPhone 16 Plus is available for USD 899, USD 999, and USD 1,199 for a similar storage configuration. Both smartphones are available in Ultramarine, Teal, Pink, White, and Black colour options.

Apple equips the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus with a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with 60Hz refresh rate and Ceramic Shield Protection. The display supports 1,000 nits max brightness, 1,600 nits peak brightness, up to 2000 nits peak outdoor brightness, HDR, and True Tone. Both smartphones are powered by the six-core A18 SoC with two performance and four efficiency cores.

The SoC is fabricated on a 3nm process and is paired with a five-core GPU and a 16-core neutral engine. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are built for Apple Intelligence, which runs on iOS 18 out of the box and is expected to receive updates for up to five years. The smartphones flaunt a dual camera setup with a 48MP primary camera with f/1.6 aperture, second-gen sensor-shift OIS, 2x telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus and f/2.2 aperture.

Apple uses a 12MP selfie camera with an f/1.9 aperture and TrueDepth functionalities for FaceID facial recognition. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus get a new button for camera controls including depth, zoom, exposure, and more. Both smartphones are claimed to offer a video playback of up to 22 hours and 27 hours, respectively.
